At your first consultation we listen to your concerns and what you want to achieve. We take models of your teeth and photographs them as well as talk through the different options available to you. There are many different types of braces and below is a list of the most popular ones:

Clear Aligner

Teeth can be straightened by using a series of customised clear aligners. Each aligner moves your teeth by a small amount until they have reached their final position.

Fixed Metal Braces

Traditional metal braces are also known as “train tracks”. These are the most common types of braces used for children but they can also be used for adults. Teenagers like to brighten up these braces with multi-coloured elastics which hold the wires to the front of the teeth.

Ceramic Tooth-Coloured Braces

Tooth coloured aesthetic braces are a discreet system for straightening your teeth. Usually coated wires are used with these appliances so the brace is hardly noticeable. This is important for many adults who are concerned about how a brace may affect their business or social life.

Lingual Braces

Lingual braces are virtually invisible from the outside when you speak and smile as they are placed on the inside of your teeth.

Inman Aligner

The Inman Aligner is a removable brace that moulds your front teeth from the inside and outside at the same time. Therefore treatment tends to be quicker than other forms of teeth straightening methods. Typically the patients will wear the device for six to sixteen weeks.

Removable Braces

These are normally made of a plastic plate that sit on your teeth with metal clips. Sometimes these are good to start a treatment if we need to widen the dental arch. There are some special types of removable braces that can straighten your teeth in a relatively short time, such as the Inman Aligner.

Retainers

When your teeth are aligned it will be important to place retainers to stop them from going back. Whenever possible we fit you with fixed retainers which are wires glued to the back of your teeth together with removable retainers as a backup.
