DENTAL TREATMENTS AT MONICA FORSMAN DENTAL & BEAUTY
White Fillings
White fillings, also known as Composite fillings, are tooth-coloured and almost invisible. They are Mercury-free and therefore always our first choice for small and medium sized restorations.
Larger restorations usually require more durable materials such as Ceramic Inlays, or where there is severe destruction, a crown is often the strongest option.
Ceramic Inlays are made in two steps: an impression is taken of the prepared cavity and a porcelain filling is made in the laboratory. The ceramic inlay is cemented into the cavity using a composite cement. All our fillings are guaranteed for one year.
Crowns and Bridges
These fixed prosthetic treatments may be necessary after dental trauma, root canal treatment, or tooth loss and can be an excellent method to preserve dentition in our patients. At our practice we only use experienced dental technicians who have an excellent level of workmanship and have been producing a high standard of aesthetics along side us for many years.
Dental Crowns
Dental Crowns are an ideal way to rebuild a tooth that has been broken, weakened by decay or has been root filled. The crown fits right over the remaining part of the tooth, making it strong and giving it the shape and contour of a natural tooth. Dental Crowns are sometimes also known as caps.
A dental crown can be made of gold, stainless steel, porcelain bonded to precious metal, or all porcelain. We would normally aim for all porcelain in the aesthetic zone (front teeth) and porcelain fused to precious metal at the back of the mouth as these are stronger. All our crowns are guaranteed for one year.
Dental Bridges
Dental Bridges are used to replace one or more missing teeth. The bridge is usually made by crowning the teeth on either side of the gap and attaching an artificial tooth in the middle. The bridge is typically made of porcelain bonded to precious metal, or occasionally just porcelain.
Bridges have a number of important benefits. Naturally, the first thing we all think about is the appearance of our smiles and how a bridge will fix any unsightly gaps due to a lost tooth. But there are health benefits too. A bridge will ensure that your bite remains intact so that you can avoid the problem of shifting teeth and possibly a joint disorder, speech impediment and an increased risk of tooth decay that can result if you do not bridge the gap. All our conventional bridges are guaranteed for one year.
Dentures
Dentures, or False Teeth, are used when there are no remaining teeth (Complete Dentures) or for people who have lost several teeth (Partial Denture). Dentures are occasionally used to replace one tooth only as a temporary measure.
If you have had teeth removed you will need to allow time for your gums to heal and shrink back. This means that your first set of dentures is unlikely to be your last and there will be an ongoing process of refinement.
Complete dentures are normally made of acrylic, while partial dentures can be either chrome/cobalt and acrylic, flexible acrylic (Valplast) or rigid acrylic.
Root Canal Treatment
Root Canal Treatment is the necessary treatment to save a tooth that has an inflamed or infected nerve. Infection of what is known as the pulp at the centre of each tooth, must be treated to ensure it does not spread into the jaw.
If you have a tooth that is getting darker in colour or you are suffering from toothache, perhaps caused by an abscess, you most likely need root canal treatment if you want to keep the tooth.
We use the latest technology to gain access to the pulp chamber of your tooth and clean out the infection.
Root Canal Treatments are completed at our practice with equipment and materials that make this procedure pain free and as successful as possible for our patients. Typically done over 2 visits to ensure the accuracy level and success rate remains high, the treatments standard is as important to us as it is to you so we can maintain a healthy dentition for our patients.
